Smart Meter Implementation & Support Specialist

Reports To: Director of Operations

FLSA Status: Exempt

Location: Milwaukee, WI

Job Purpose

The Implementation Specialist will plan, coordinate, and deliver software and hardware solutions to our customers nationwide through initial implementation and installation, system enhancements, and other agreed upon special projects.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Lead, plan and coordinate implementation and installation of agreed upon services

  • Travel to client locations nationwide to install and implement software or hardware solutions for meter, sensors, and handheld units

  • Provide end-user training to on-site personnel and clients on installed hardware and software

  • Post-implementation support and transition to other internal departments including troubleshooting and configuring hardware remotely and locally, determining cause of operating errors and taking appropriate action to remedy the problem

  • Set up and maintain client information in backend systems

  • Provide data to engineering, systems administration, and supply chain staff regarding functionality of products and additional products needed

  • Develop and tailor tools, techniques and methods to help improve implementations and operations

Qualifications
  • Strong project planning/project management capabilities

  • Able to work independently and efficiently to meet deadlines

  • Able to promptly answer support related e-mail, phone calls, and other electronic communications

  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented and organized

  • Experienced with hardware and software issues and troubleshooting

  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills

  • Flexibility and adaptability to evolving demands

  • Able to schedule time effectively and prioritize to avoid crisis

  • Commitment to customer service

Education and Experience Requirements
  • Associates Degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field preferred

  • 2-3 years’ experience in hardware and software troubleshooting, installation, etc.

  • Experience in a Field Technician role preferred

  • Must possess valid drivers’ license and be able to regularly rent a vehicle while travelling

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
  • Employee will work in an office environment approximately 50% - 65% of the time.

  • Employee will work on-site at client locations nationwide approximately 35% - 50% of the time. Must be able to stay on-site for 3-14 days.

  • Must be able and willing to travel nationwide at least 35% - 50% of the time

  • Occasionally lifting up to 30 lbs. of equipment

  • Able to walk and stand most of the day when working onsite at client locations

  • Able to drive a vehicle while travelling
