CivicSmart Inc., a Milwaukee-based provider of on-street parking equipment and transportation technologies, announced Friday that Mike Nickolaus has been named its president and CEO and will serve on its board.
Since July 2015, Nickolaus has been assisting CivicSmart with the transition and integration of Duncan Parking Technologies Inc., which was acquired from Duncan Solutions Inc. to complement CivicSmart’s vehicle sensing and systems integration capabilities and expand its client base.
“I’ve known Mike for over 15 years as a friend and colleague, and I have great respect for his business acumen and transportation industry experience,” said Balu Subramanya, founder, chairman and chief technology officer of CivicSmart. “I can think of no better person to help me lead CivicSmart towards a bright future.”
“I am excited to be working with Balu and a talented team of engineers and operations staff who are delivering innovative, proprietary technologies that fit into the growing Internet of Things (IoT) market space and will unlock tremendous value for governments, citizens and partners,” Nickolaus said. “CivicSmart’s patented sensor has numerous parking applications but also offers benefits to a much broader set of civic and transportation markets. Helping promote the emergence of Smart Cities is very appealing to me.”
For nine years prior to joining CivicSmart, Nickolaus served as president and CEO of Duncan Solutions. In total, he has 27 years’ experience delivering intelligent transportation and parking systems into state and local government markets including as an executive with ACS, Dyncorp/DynRide and Lockheed Martin.
